We didn’t do them for covid. No expectation of doing them now. We are still understaffed in many areas
Not really. We have trimmed additional people as part of regular review cycles without calling it layoffs. But typically PwC doesn’t lay people off if they can help it

I just joined advisory from EY and the culture seems more cutthroat here performance wise but it does seem like the firm doesn’t carry dead weight just to be nice like EY did so layoffs aren’t as necessary
I have seen a couple of years where they get more aggressive in weeding out low performers (maybe bottom 10% or so) but in the 12 years I have been with the firm we have never done indiscriminate layoffs (always performance based). The firm does get a little socialist when times are tough freezing all salaries and reducing bonuses across the board but that has only happened a couple times.
