Hi Tax Bowlers, I'm an experienced associate (2yrs) in a Big 4 Transfer Pricing division. I have reached a point in my career where I am considering taking up a professional certification. Several colleagues recommended taking up either ACCA or CFA, however, I see little connection between these certifications and the work that I am currently doing, and what I plan to do in the future. What would you guys suggest? Would it be detrimental to my career if I did not take up any certifications?
Partners & Principals, If you have offers from couple of big-4 (Deloitte, PWC, EY and KPMG) & also mid tier such as RSM /Grant Thornton etc. What is your advice? It appears the starting salary/draw is a bit varied even with in the big-4 but it is my understanding overtime (3-5 years), most of them average out dont know about mid tear. is midtier better as they less overhead and more marketshare to grow? or even within big-4 is there one firm much better than the other comp & retirement wise
Poll for the group - How common are PIPs at the various Big 4? Is it like the whole bottom 10% of everyone’s group or a once-in-a-while-this-person-is-dumb kind of thing? Have heard of quite a few within my group and wondering if it’s normal or something isn’t quite right.
Anyone know what a Structured Finance Analyst / Senior makes at Big 4? Specifically NYC? Can’t find much info
For those who came from or went to industry, are the learning experiences similar to B4? How do years of experience in B4 equate to years in industry?
Is it normal for teams to lose it on each other on a regular basis? I’m fairly new to the B4 and never experienced it at former firms. It starts at the top and it’s starting to take a toll on my performance. Not sure if I need to suck it up and deal with it or start thinking about changing teams. TIA
Is it a common feeling or that diversity hires at big 4 are less qualified than individuals hired through general channels? Can anyone in HR support or refute?
Which of B4 + MBB pays SWE/DS the most? I know they can't compare to FAANG, but just among these guys, who pays the most? Who has the best talent/tech implementations?
Any Transfer Pricing or ITS attorneys here who successfully made the jump from big 4 to big law? Any advice?
I work in a small big 4 office. I plan on staying through the fall busy season and leaving shortly after, definitely before spring busy season. How early should I let the firm/team know of my notice?
@Capco professionals or others who have heard of them, Have an offer with big 4 risk and am interviewing with capco in for the ATP generalist program. (NYC) Entry level for both. Big 4 offer is 80k + 5k sign on, Does anyone know what the capco pays entry level generalists? Which do you think is better long term, goal is to eventually get to MBB strategy, probably through MBA
What does a manager with 8-10 years in Big 4 consulting experience (5-6 years in FSI) make in the market today?
How hard is it to move to FAANG from a relatively unknown boutique consulting firm? Are there extra leaps compared to MBB or Big 4, or if you get a referral you have similar odds?
When is it best to leave big 4 Investment/Financial Services tax in terms of years/level?
What cert to go for next? Currently have AWS-SAA and Security+. Thinking about CISSP but how difficult is it compared to the AWS-SAA?
$50k for diversity leadership (MD) referrals... calling all MDs, PPEds, PPDs and such... who wants to join Accenture and split the profits with me?!!! Haha
ZS fish - when applying, do you actually provide your salary history from the past 5 years? The application says proof of income will be requested during the interview process. This seems very odd so looking for guidance. Thanks!
Got an email says "We are offering a highly competitive compensation and benefits package:Netflix/Amazon Prime subscriptions..."
It been over 12 Weeks since I got an RFE for my H1b extension petition and GGS has not filed a response yet. Every time I reach out, they claim that they are still working on it.
Actually spent all of my per diem today and am feeling shitty about it. Normally, I have enough left to essentially eat free over the weekend!
Currently in the US but interviewing for a UK-based firm and role. The comp level they are throwing around is £250k TC. Is this reasonable for a Director-level role with 12 YOE? My comparator would be wait 18-24mo to become a consulting partner - in the US that starts at $450k/£325k. For the purposes of this question, assume I’m optimizing for initial comp, not long term potential, and not livability, Intl experience, WLB, CoL etc. Thanks!
Can anyone help me with kind of questions I can expect for .Net developer interview 3 years experience. Data structures and algorithms or just project based questions
Anyone else tire of the “plant mom” and “dog dad” me too conversation? It seems to be more frequent. For example, company says, “Parents, please share pictures of working from home with your kids during Covid” for a diversity and inclusion project. Undoubtedly someone responds, “what about my plant babies? 🤣”. I don’t want sympathy but I find it childish. Just give us the courtesy of understanding that plants and pets are not the same. Stop “me too’ing”
Having an interview with McKinsey for a Business Analyst role in 5-6 weeks, looking for someone who went thru the interview process and could do a mock case interview with me. Thanks in advance.
Are people wearing suits/ties for remote interviews? Hadn’t considered it but have one coming up for a back office Director role - FAANG. What’s the dress code?
Which is better: waiting Day if to switch flights on American Airlines or calling a couple days before? I don’t have status (I know bad me) so I can’t switch for free.
McKinsey has pretty traditionally been considered the best of MBB, followed by BCG, then Bain. Given all the scandals its dealt with this past few years do you think its standing within MBB will drop? I think its too big to fall out of the group but I definitely am leaning towards BCG being the new preferred/top option for people trying to break in to consulting.
How many years should you stay at a consulting company before jumping ship so it doesn’t look like your a hopper or flight risk or have negative perception?
This would be a big business culture shift. But it is probably time for this change. https://www.newsweek.com/dr-fauci-americans-should-never-shake-hands-again-coronavirus-influenza-1496772
