You are building a career. Go where you will learn the most and make the best work.
Don’t look at it as ‘what’s my next move,’ but instead evaluate which will help you make the move that comes after that. Where will you learn more, be challenged and be able to make the greatest impact?
I’d leave to work under people you can learn & grow from.
I think your question is the difference of, continuing to churn out good, but same level of work OR growing under very respected leadership. Paired with the title bump, I think the answer is easy to me.
I would ask some questions first. How much will you actually interact with the ECD? Are the accounts you would go on have work you admire? Do you like the CDs as you would probably work closer with them. What is the culture like at the new shop? How are they accommodating new employees who start remotely.
Also definitely look closely into the accounts. The last shop I was at the accounts that looked best on the outside were the worst inside with a high creative turnover.
More context: this in-house shop is truly a dream job, not a lot of downsides, making a ton of work, but could be making more money and it may take a while to get promoted because things move slowly here. The ECD I would work under at the new shop came from the best agency in the country working on the best accounts at that shop (you can put two and two together).
Haha same I would not have guessed it, and it felt very obvious. Also, congrats on this new opportunity! Anddddd wow you’re in advertising and it’s a dream job? You’re entire situation is bravo, well done 👏🏻
But in all seriousness. Ask yourself this question. Did I get everything out of my dream job that I wanted? Do I feel comfortable there? If both of the answers to that question are a, “Yes” then you should leave. Take the new job, learn new tricks, keep perfecting that craft, be challenged, make that money, and grow. Plus if you’re well liked at your job and you leave, you can always go back.

I’d stay.
