HH in Chicago?
I've worked at the same engineering firm for 4 years. I'm currently making $161k with only a $750 bonus, but excellent vacation (4 weeks, cash out anytime, rolls over indefinitely), 45 hours a week. I have an interview with a recruiter at Guidehouse this week for a Technical Project Manager role. It seems to be focused in the government space and requires a security clearance. What sort of salary and benefits could I expect for this sort of role at Guidehouse?

Misread your post originally, but transferring out of AFS is its own promotion. Trust me
Best chance is overrated. Do what you gotta do while you are on the project. You got this.
They have these 2 yr promo cycle to trap you like a hamster, you should never prioritize "best chance" over better experiences. Your promo rec would've been in by April anyway.
Take the role out of AFS FOR SURE
Get out of AFS. Not an easy opportunity to come across.
Best chance for promotion doesn't mean much. There's lots of variables. And depending on if you want your long term career to be working in LLP industries, take the chance out of AFS
Don't even associate yourself with AFS. Ever
AFS isn't shitty. It comes down to personal preference. Some people like the slower paced projects with not as much travel in AFS. So it's a choice
Work life balance tends to be much better in AFS. It depends what type of work you like to do too and the client. The federal business is also growing, so there is a lot of opportunity for promotion.
F' AFS. It's a looking proposition. Do the job that gets you promoted so you have more flexibility to do what you want later.
Wait AFS is that shitty?
Actually AFS promos tend to be faster I think, but I've never heard of anyone doing anything interesting for AFS
