Steam pipes. How do you cool down a room when these are in it. Air is so dry, it’s making me sick.

I had to deal with it this week. Live on the top floor, and it was hell.

My solution:
1. Opening windows frequently to let in natural cool and humidity
2. Room humidifier (Miko on Amazon has been good)
3. Vicks Personal Sinus Steam Inhaler with Soft Face Mask

And of course stay hydrated, more than usual. After 5-6 days of trial and error, things feel normal.

Kept one window open and also had a fan from the summer that I kept in my room so world turn that on

Keep one window cracked open. This worked best for me, esp since the heat pipes were right by the window so the air temperatures blended pretty easily (instead of separate hot and cold drafts).

Steam is the best heat ever. Better than all of the other garbage heating units combined. Appreciate it and don’t change it ! Just crack that window wide open Lol.

Aren't there like tubes or something your can slide over them for they diffuse the heat better? Thought someone said those help

likesmart

Yes, get insulating foam tubes for them. It’ll help a lot

The bane of my existence

I kept my window open all winter in NYC. Also, they have these insulation wrapping things, perk is that it’s safer so you don’t burn yourself.

More like these lol, live from my bathroom.

You could ask your landlord to insulate the pipes, or do it yourself.
That would block out most of the heat from your living space.

That knob turns off the pipes on the right side. Make sure it’s closed all the way shut. If you let it open a smidge, it’ll cause knocking sounds for you and all your neighbors.

They’ve been on the naughty list. I say let em freeze.

Fam thats a lot of opportunities to get burned 🙅‍♀️

It’s aight bruh. We all got them baggage too ❤️‍🔥

Ugly piping. But yeah if you live in a pre war, it's not unusual to have a window open, fan on, and even sometimes AC on in the middle of winter to offset the heat. Sometimes they turn the heat on when it's not even that cold outside (like mid 40s), so you definitely need to let the cool air in.

Second the comments of people saying humidifier, but I’ll ad a cool mist humidifier is better for the rest of your home. I had this problem and slept with it every night. If you work from home, use during the day too. Complete game changer!

SPHR exam- has anyone ever been “randomly selected” for an application audit? This just happened to me and the sheer amount of effort that is going to go into collecting all the documents almost makes me not want to follow through. Since I didn’t finish undergrad, they’re asking for a copy of my high school diploma or transcript and that itself is going to be an absolute nightmare to get hold of. Guess I’m not really looking for a solution here, just venting.

Kind of niche question here but under NY CPLR, if a plaintiff files a MTD/MSJ, and then the defendants file opposition papers containing information that the court had previously ordered to be kept under seal, would you a) file a reply asking to seal/strike the opposition papers or b) file a separate OTSC since you’re now seeking additional relief not sought in the original motion?
