We provide new hires a voucher to use to redeem company branded merchandise of their choice. They have 30-days to use it, otherwise it’s invalid and the funds return to the company. Do you believe the value of the voucher needs to be taxed like gift cards? My stance is no, because it’s a company purchase and just giving them the option of which merch item to choose and there’s no cash value.

The mid-size tech company I work for is looking to develop an education assistance program (i.e. tuition, certifications, learning modules, books). We developed a survey to collect this information. Anyone else hit a point where you were ready to leave the HR world too? I did… I acted. Sooo glad. I feel relief, freedom, excitement again! Resigned from an upper level mgmt role last month. Burned out, miss being independent and tired of the HR industry stigma and lack of appreciation at my company.

I’m mid-level in my HR career at my current company and an upcoming Master’s graduate. Studying for my SHRM-CP too. How did you make the transition to that next level? What skills do you need, or is it really just based on YOE (I am the youngest compared to my teammates, many who have 10+ YOE)? I feel like career pathing is not very clear at my company.
