Strategy and consulting folks, did you enjoy making the move to investor role PE?

does senior data analyst necessarily make less than DS? I always want to be a DS, but as I research more I realize DS might also wear the hat of business analyst. The constant interaction in workshops and presentation to other stakeholders are not what I most comfortable in doing. So that makes me wonder, what if I should stay in the DA path to be a senior... But on the other hand, I'm very keen on learning the ML part... still need to sharpen my programming skills tho.

Any good resources or tips for the FSL or Pardot Specialist certs? Have some experience with both but not full implementation.

I’m in IT in a large corp and I don’t know what to do. I’m the systems engineer and I planned around what I thought was a straight forward concept. It appears what I thought would be possible was wrong. Everyone celebrated thinking I’d figured it out, including me. Were spinning up a full team to build it and I’ve exhausted all avenues to find an alternative solution. There isn’t. Horrified this is a career limiting situation….

I had positions in private sector that allowed me to supplement having a degree with experience but not in public sector. What is the career progression like in PE? At McKinsey where I am now, it’s fairly standardized, about 2-3 years at each level, and up/out model. If can’t get elected partner after 2 or 3 cycles, will likely get counseled out. Partner eligible for senior partnership after 6 years. How is it in PE? Is it up/out as well or can you end up being “stuck” at associate level for 10 years? How likely is it to be promoted, how fast and what happens if you are asked to leave (where do you go next?)

What Masters degree do y’all think is more valuable for breaking into finance: Masters of Financial Mathematics and Financial Technology or Masters of Economics. Thinking of using these as a method to breakout and then eventually going MBA route later on down the road. 1 YOE at Big 4 risk advisory, Engineering and Economics undergrad at top 50 University with 3.75 GPA if that matters at all.
