“everyone here has adhd” 🥲
OP please stop specifying strategy/MBB consultant in your posts. This isn’t a bowl for egos and it’s elitist. People are in this bowl to support each other and just because you work MBB and have ADHD doesn’t make you any different than someone with ADHD at McDonald’s. Everyone’s job is hard with this diagnosis.
Always Deloitte! Some issues can differ by profession, but I also found that reference by OP was oddly specific.
Wouldn’t do it. Many people are skeptical about ADHD. Especially given that amphetamines are used. After all, how do you really know 100% that you have ADHD?
Exactly why I didn’t say what learning disability I had. Too many people overlook it but it Actually is something that affects me daily and I can tell what the difference is when I’m off my meds
I’ve said I have a learning disability. Didn’t say which one though
I vocally told them but didn’t write it down…was too nervous to do that 😫 but I ran out of my meds and my work was suffering so I told them about my learning disability and how I ran out of my meds so if things take longer that is why
I’m extremely open about my ADHD and where I struggle. I work at a 100-year-old firm (the tech consulting practice within it is new, but it’s an “old white guys” institution) where there’s a lot of stigma, and no knowledge or exposure to neurodivergence. I’m up front, honest, and clear about what I need to succeed, and the hope is that if someone else is struggling, they feel not so alone and like they can communicate their needs, too.
Well, my ADHD comes with RSD, so I need meeting invites with superiors to have an agenda, otherwise I’ll spiral. I work best when there’s white noise, so being able to have Netflix on makes me more productive. I tend to have a lull in mid-mornings, and again around 4pm, but can be hyper productive between 5-7pm, so getting the agency to own my schedule and work when I can do my best work was huge.

Do not do that. Your talent group should be able to get accommodations and give them to your manager.
If Talent goes to someone asking for accommodations for anyone, it outs them as having a fairly serious issue. It could be to many people too as many consultants don’t report to 1 person. Talent wouldn’t say what the issue is, but the speculation could be worse.
I think the best approach to try first is to communicate around what you need directly with your team members. No need to get into why you need it - much of what drives ADHD can also be attributed to working style or personality.
Everyone has their own impression of ADHD. If I told my managers/colleagues, I would frame it more like a “this is how we can work together more efficiently” convo rather than just telling them. I think if you just tell them, it could potentially come off as an excuse for missing deadlines etc. I would provide examples/steps that they can take to work with me better. For example, I tend to lose focus when people talk for too long so I would ask them to send me a ping instead summarizing a request or issue and then we can jump on a shorter focused call. I also perform better when I’m not juggling 20 small tasks and, instead, working on a few larger tasks.
