Would reneging on a job offer follow me?
I have an offer from Walmart but I'm also interviewing at Meta. I'm midway through the Meta process but there's still a long way to go and I don't want to rush through it unprepared. Both are for a Data Scientist position. Any suggestions on how to deal with a situation like this? Walmart Facebook (Meta)

Kearney’s PE/M&A practice is top tier. If you come in as a generalist and get involved in some related projects / initiatives, it’d be pretty easy to transition into the PEMA practice, and I’ve seen many of my PEMA colleagues get phenomenal exits
If goal = PE, PEVC
Else, Kearney
Sorry didn't mean to convey that as the only exit. These are both good options and none will shut the door anywhere. That was just my opinion as it's biggest value add. If OP wanted to optimize for PE, that group at S& may be preferable. If OP was uncertain what industry or type of work they wanted, a Kearney generalist has a much broader project base.
I hear PEVC is more about ODD. Do you think that has PE exit opps?
It is. S& has a Deals team that does most of the CDD work.
And operational ones - yes. If all of your clients are PE firms I would imagine you'd have to be pretty bad not to build good rapport at some point.
I had this decision (also from NYU, though for B School) and went with S&. Ultimately came down to the people—I bonded more with the people in PEVC and felt more appreciated by them. They are both good firms/teams, just depends on what feels right for you.
Happy to talk more if you want to DM me.
Would love to talk to you separately @kearney1 and @Strategy&2. I recently joined the app, and don’t have an option to dm. Can you please message me if possible?
Can’t seem to message you but look on LinkedIn and you’ll find me: I’m the senior associate from Stern who started in 2020 and didn’t intern with PwC. Email me on my NYU email
