I am from a family where both parents are "old money" PHD holders, one of whom is a professor and one of whom is an executive of a moderately sized company. I have a full sleeve, that I would never not cover in a business context. I don't find this to be an indication of "class", and the only issue it has ever caused me has been that I have to wear a suit jacket on a daily basis, which I would do anyway because I think it is more professional. Also, I work in Atlanta, so it gets hot in the summer, and still wore the jacket before I had the sleeve, so no inconvenience to me. Hands/neck is ridiculous to have in a professional context, but anything else is fair game as long as you can cover it to prevent the unnecessary pre-judgement of many of my clients, who tend to be people from an older generation (public sector). (And I guess the judgement of the moral police in this thread)
People act on stereotypes. We wear nice collared shirts because of that, and we wear decent dress slacks because of it. Tattoos don't help your first impression within the business world - but it's not the only factor either. No one is claiming that tattoos prevent you from success here, but, regardless of whether you think it's fair or not, within the business world, in some segments, it may lead to pre-judgments (as this thread evidences). Plenty of other factors can outweigh tattoos - they're not the only thing, they're not an automatic veto... but they're more likely to hurt your career than help it.
How are they not professional? No one I work with will ever see mine.
Guaranteed I won't regret mine. They're not unprofessional if they are easily hidden either by close or location. If girls can be guys, my tattoos peaking through my polo every once in a while on a casual Friday is fine. Grow up. It's 2017.
Ppl w tats statistically lose more MMA fights than those without tats. The lesson clearly is that tats lead to getting beat up. #statistics
It's your body, do what you want with it. It's not your job to appease the world.
They have zero impact on your ability to do your job, and unless it's something vulgar, I don't think "optics" are a good enough reason to not have the body you want.
If you think you'll regret it, don't do it...but don't assume everyone will regret theirs. I used to wonder why folks would want to mark up their skin, but we all have blemishes and scars anyway, and it's not like you win a prize for having super bland skin when you die.
Love girls With tats
I have 2. Mine are in places that are easily covered in work attire. Love them, need more.
I'm inked and attract more women than my buddies at the beach, or perhaps it's the 6-pack.
Damn so many haters. I have pretty noticeable tattoos but cover up for work with long sleeves. I'm always itching to get more ink ♥️
The judgement is strong on this thread
Girls with tats are yummy. I did a study. It's science
You should get a face tattoo... always a good decision.
Hate them for me and deal breaker for an SO. No judgment and completely fine with it if you're a friend or coworker - not my business. (I'm a straight male btw)
Im with pwc2 - I'm from a good background and have two that no one ever sees or knows about, how is that "an indicator of class"??
Love them. Want more. In a perfect world I'd have a sleeve, but for now I want to keep climbing the corporate ladder so I'll just hide them.
I grew up in a nice suburb outside of Chicago and I have a 3/4 sleeve so how's that indicator for class? Oh and I volunteer like a mother fucker and open the door for folks.
No one seems to mind my tear drop at work
So we're all agreed. Tats are sexy and ladies I'm single
