No. As long as it isn’t impacting your work and your partners are signed off - go for it.

Nope. Just do it responsibly.

Avoid holidays and other peak vacation weeks when more senior folks will likely be out. You should expect to be in the office to cover those weeks. But otherwise as long as you get approved and get coverage it should be fine

like

The rule of thumb at my firm is you should wait about 6 months before you start taking a true vacation, and you shouldn’t be taking it during the holidays as a stub

Hey could use some honest opinions on this because I’m still in shock. I was preparing to give in my resignation + 2 weeks from EY on Monday to jump ship to Deloitte. I accepted the offer from Deloitte on Friday, and I just got hit with a bomb today that my brother has cancer and we have no idea what stage it’s at. Should I just rescind my acceptance from Deloitte? I don’t know how it would be taken if I start at a new firm and immediately need substantial flexibility and time off.

I read quite a few Leadership books but honestly it seems just common sense stuff. Doesn’t help me identify whats wrong.
