Elephant orphanage, Kazuri Bead Factory, Talisman restaurant, national museum, Karen Blixen museum, and if not doing a real safari have a driver take you on a mini safari in Nairobi National Park.
Don’t take those as comprehensive; I’ve only been a handful of times for work
Giraffe sanctuary was pretty cool. The carnivore if you like meat. Getting turnt on Tuskers if you like fun
Do your best to get out of the city and go on safari. City not that safe or worth your time. Book a safari company to take you to any of the national parks- fabulous. Visit a travel doc well in advance - you need lots of shots plus malaria pills. Stick to bottled water. You can also buy purification tablets at rei for emergencies. Also consider permethrin for your clothes as mosquito repellent- diseases there nothing to be cavalier about. Family member got careless and got malaria- was pretty critical for a few days and has some lasting effects. Not trying to scare you but just follow the health recommendations and it will be amazing
Ah well too late! 🤗 loving it so far though
Thanks a bunch. Also, silly question I know that the tap water isn’t safe to consume, but boiling it should be fine right? Or do you recommend sticking to only bottled water
Also plz ensure u get the yellow fever vaccination atleast 14 days before u fly out. Contact your local travel clinics.. they may not have vaccine stock readily available. Sets you back by $200-$250 since insurance does not cover typically
Bottled water. At the good hotels the food is great but elsewhere watch out for raw veggies that may have been washed in water that’s not purified. Take an extra two or three days if you can and do a short Safari at Little Governors Lodge in the Masai mara
Would NOT recommend a single female wander around on your own much. I went alone but was with a guide /tour and was fine. Would not have been comfortable alone
We stayed at Nairobi Tented Camp and it was the most amazing glamping experience ever.
