A good physical therapist will help you recover faster and stay strong so when you’re ankle is healthy you can rebound more quickly. My PT is awesome.

I’m sorry! You’ve accomplished a lot and don’t let this set back put you down. It’s probably not the most fun answer but diet is key! Muscle mass generally takes a few weeks or a month to start to change so as long as your maintaining your diet it shouldn’t be hard to maintain. One thing to consider doing is abs or upper body while you’re recovering while making sure to keep weight off of your hurt ankle. A great form of cardio you can try towards the tail end of your recovery is swimming. It’s light impact and when I broke my foot and was recovering from surgery my doctor said at a certain point I could try swimming to do some cardio.

Yes, I truly believe diet is 80% of being healthy. Make sure you take the time to rest and fully heal (agree with PT), so it doesn't affect you long term. Congratulations on losing 40 lbs, I've lost 40 too and I feel so much better!

I suffered a similar awful sprain a few years ago. I did gain weight during recovery, unfortunately you’ll need to be meticulous about your diet. And 200% recommend physical therapy!!!!

Diet and Adjust your Strength training. You can sculpt your upper body while seated.

Definitely check out a physical therapist - they can also recommend exercises to help you once you return to running. If you are comfortable with going to a gym, I’d suggest the bike or aqua jogging for keeping your sanity and not stressing over the cardio impact. Once you’re ready to run it might take a week or so to find your groove again, but don’t lose faith that your training is gone!! It will still be there, just a little sleepy :)
