Supposed to go to DU in March. I’ll be in second trimester. There’s no mask policy. I got the booster in November but Covid in December before pregnancy. Would you go?

Maybe unpopular opinion, but I’d probably go. You’re likely to have some lasting added immunity from having COVID, on top of the protection you have from being boosted. I did a substantial amount of travel in my 2nd trimester and felt pretty comfortable with it. Anecdotally, I have two vaxxed friends who both just had COVID while pregnant. Both recovered fine and pregnancies are doing totally fine.

Got it! The fact that your booster and covid infection were so recent tell me you’ll most likely not catch covid but with pregnancy you might have a harder time on the off chance you do catch it. That said, I have a pregnant (unvaccinated) friend who caught it in her second trimester and all she had was mild congestion. With all the immunity you should have, it would probably be very mild if you do catch it so you’ll have to decide if the small risk of catching it and even smaller risk of a severe case if you do catch it is worth the potential benefit of this work event. Good luck and congrats on the pregnancy!

This is helpful thanks! This is what I am also thinking. I have my first prenatal apt next week and will ask doc rec as well

Depends on what the situation is like in March. If I had to go today, I would not go because of the high number of cases (even though I am boosted). If this same situation happened last summer, I’d probably go. I did travel last year while pregnant but paused it when cases started to get high. It’s such a personal decision, you have to figure out what level of risk you’re comfortable with

I’m traveling to the UK from US for 6 days at 14 weeks for work meetings, but it’ll be with a small team that’s all vaxxed/boosted. My biggest worry is the airport/plane but will wear an n95. I’m not overly worried.

I went to DU at 23-24 weeks back in December and would absolutely recommend it! I wore my KN95 80-90% of the time outside of meals, and people understood (I was also visibly pregnant so they were sympathetic). I double-masked on the plane and in the airport (KN95 + cloth). There were other people at DU wearing masks as well so I didn’t feel weird about it. There were also 2 other visibly pregnant ladies in my program. My most important advice is wear comfortable shoes (bring different shoe options) and even consider compression socks for the flight + the long days standing and walking. I wore compression socks every day and it honestly saved my feet and legs.

Not vaccinated, don’t mask (I’m medically incapable) — 35w pregnant and do all the things. Had mild covid at 25w and fine. Treat it like cold or flu at best and live life :)

What is DU?

It’s a leadership center for Deloitte employees, we do all day trainings/workshops and then spend evenings networking. The accommodations are kind of like an all inclusive hotel.

I passed on my manager milestone training for the same reason. So glad I did, as everyone was notified of exposures that week (despite vaccination requirements). Bummed I missed out though

However, I was only about 5 weeks along and the booster wasn't available yet. I'd feel differently in the second trimester and boosted, like you said :)

Totally anecdotal but I was planning to fly to a weeklong training in Texas this month at 30 weeks. It got cancelled due to omicron but just wanted to say you are definitely not crazy for considering going!

Depends on what you’re comfortable with at that time. I am 36 weeks, not vaccinated (my doctor recommendation) and had COVID at 29 weeks. It wasn’t bad at all. You just have to make a decision based on what you’re most comfortable with. I personally think you’ll be fine. Vaccinated or not, everyone is getting it lately.
