Switched industries (from fashion/beauty) for a freelance job in another field at 32 and I am loving the change and the work so far. Way more web design than I’ve ever had the opportunity to do and learning more valuable skills!

I’ve been trying to change careers for at least a year with no luck. I have a degree in math, completed the Google Data Analytics certification, and have a few years of professional experience. I’m also working towards completing another data analyst certificate through DataCamp. I can sometimes get interviews but nothing has led to an offer, even for entry level positions. Am I missing something?

Hi fishes, I need help evaluating two offers with similar salaries.
1: Grant Thornton Senior Consultant- role involves IA co-sourcing and outsourcing and occasionally some ERM work (risk assessment) etc. Clients in various industries except FS
2:PWC Senior Associate- role involves implementation of SOX controls for FS clients

Which role would you choose and which do you think has greater exit opportunities?

My background is mainly in IA of both financial and operational controls.

I am currently working at one of the top tier company (service based)at a project which has come to like and end and very minimal work is there and the team wont give release since they have a minimal workforce and they kind outilize us for their support. As a budding developer I think its kind of a waste of time even though i can alawys keep leaening. Recently I got an offer from Infosys . Is this looked down upon? Planning to just stay in forensics or hop back to IA down the line

How do you all handle working at a place that doesn’t really listen to your ideas early but then eventually move towards that same concept later? I’m trying to not give up because I’ve invested so much time but at some point it’s time to move on to another opportunity.

I want to create a data visualization portfolio, but I’m not sure where to begin. I work in urban planning and wanna do more urban analytics kind of stuff. Does anyone have any pointers for me as to where to begin and what all different types of visualizations I should be aiming to include? I’ve used R and Excel for this so far. I’ve done some web mapping using JS as well and use illustrator for my visualizations as well. Thanks!

Just finished a phone screening for a product designer role at a well known agency. The call only last 20 minutes and I feel as if I wasn’t able to portray myself as a strong candidate. Any advice for the future?

How do you deal with the constant rejection in the job hunt as a entry level UI UX candidate? I’ve watched my spouse make it the last rounds of multiple interviews, just to get rejected, and the last interviewer told him he didn’t have as much detail in his portfolio as she’d like to see. Any advice I can share with him on how to pick yourself up and make meaningful progress in the job search?

Hello fellow UX-ers. I recently interviewed for a role and one of the interviewers on the panel asked me if I've done any projects other than for my current company. I work for a large consultancy and 1. I don't have time for freelance or pet projects 2. Even if I did them, I could seriously be in trouble with my current company. Has anyone experienced this kind of question before? What was your answer?

I have 8 years of design experience in addition to design education, 3 of those years are in UX/Product design. I’m making $102k, med/vis/dental, up to 6% 401k match, unlimited PTO and options worth ~10k vested in a couple years. Bonus last year was ~10%. NYC startup.
