Different use cases. Looker ideal for database and collaboration, lookml great for keeping consistent definitions across org. Viz not as good as Tableau.
Tableau is clunky, but best in class viz. Much preferred for anything that’s not in a live database (flat files, etc) and more ad-hoc exploratory type stuff. Find it rather cumbersome when connecting to databases. Also sharing viz across orgs tougher as dashboards tend to multiply too much with different definitions gets a bit out of hand. Impresses clients for consulting.
Really depends, looker is great when you want to allow end users as well the ability to create their own reports and also enable them to better understand how metrics how created. Tableau will be able to deal with larger databases and do more advanced vizzes (but you will start to see performance issues bc it’s so clunky) but requires only analysts to make dashboards and reports. There are different costs associated, as well, (in general Tableau will be more costly but might be more cost—efficient depending on your situation) depends on the size of your organization and the usage you plan to get out of it across all levels.
Looker obviously duh
