Anyone here in IB restructuring willing to share tips and good resources to use to prep for an upcoming interview? I don’t have IB/finance experience but took a modelling course on wallstreetprep. Also, I am planning on studying the HL case study and read the interview guides on restructuringinterviews.com. Lastly, If you can share what the interview was like for you, that would be appreciated. TIA
Hi Applied to PwC Strategy& for a consultant role and havent heard back from a recuiter however, I received an email for a survey asking what am I looking for in the company in terms of their culture, values etc and what other companies I have applied to. Is this a typical process? Not sure if thats the step 1 in the process or I have been rejected. Any feed back is appreciated. I am graduating from Ohio State with an MBA and have 8 years of experience in corporate accounting and finance.

I currently make $90k with a great wlb, support systems, and colleagues. Im also set to get promoted this January which will bring me to $108,000 (no bonuses). I got an offer from Slalom Consulting for $115,000 + 8% bonus and I don't know if I should take it. Any thoughts? Happy to provide more details in the comments

American work culture truly is toxic to not even accept such a valid/common human desire as this
Completely agree. People are too worried about the “flight risk” that they’ll miss out on talented folks that just needed a break. What we do is difficult and people deal in different ways.

I quit my job and took 2 months to recharge, focus on mental health, see family, and get back to some of my hobbies. Best decision ever.
Started out my new job with a great company and some amazing people. The market is/was hot when I quit my job and I was actively interviewing with several companies (FAANG, T2, Big 4). I was very honest with every recruiter about why I took time off and they all understood and advanced me past the initial screening. My advice is to make use of your network and keep your skills relevant during your time off!
Could play the mental health post Covid card. Also to really reflect on the career path you want and take time to think about that choice. If anything they should respect it. I travel a lot while at my current job and my boss is always excited to hear my stories and is very supportive.
I’m about to do that same. To burned out to be functional anymore. Just don’t care about all this toxic urgency on every project to enrich others and not myself. I’ve heard others doing this and just being open with recruiters and spinning it as taking some time to travel. Or work on some side project.

You could also mention that you knew you were in the wrong role at a previous firm based on your goals and values and that you wanted to take some time off to really look for the right position. You could be excited that you found the role you’re applying for since you had been looking for this exactly. The fact you were traveling while doing that? Eh do they need to know? Or you could say you were really interested in different cultures and wanted to experience the people and cultural aspect a bit more than you had exposure to previously.
How I envy you OP, hoping to do the same soon!
Honestly, recruiters get paid once you get hired. Think its perfectly ok to be honest with them. Theyll be selling you regardless
don’t mean to hijack, but question for you since i’m thinking of doing the same. would you be able to comment on your financial situation allowing you to do this?
That’s awesome! I am about the same. Just paid off my car after selling my house and have a period solid cushion. Missed promotion recently after grinding a ton of weekends. Going to resign soon and travel, relax, and work some side projects whenever I decide I want to look at a computer again.
