Pay cut or raise going from consultant role at big consulting firm to health venture firm?

Got an offer at McKinsey and negotiated for $7k more base and recruiter basically made me feel like shit and said “negotiating is bad optics but I’ll take it back and see what we can do”
Am I in the wrong?

Hey guys, I adopted my cat last night. When he came in he was quite shy but I let him out in the bathroom first with his litter box, food, and water. He ate the dry food from last night, and I gave him wet food this morning. He started to eat the wet food, but then started purring and meowing and following me around.
