Hi fishes, in urgent need of your suggestions.
One of my friend is having offer from Oracle Pune for software developer role in Oracle store team. but he does not have clear idea of the role whether it will be operations, support or development work.
Does anyone know what kind of work is there in store team. Also, is it possible to change the project once we get inside?
Urgent suggestions required...
Thanks!

Do both, I’m in a similar situation now and you need to understand from the old project lead first then do info sessions with cross functional teams to validate

I don't think can just sit the former team lead down and say, "Tell me what I need to know."
If I were you, I would first spend time talking to the team members and learn what you can from them. Then, once you start to get a impression of how the team works, schedule time with the former team lead to answer specific questions and fill in the gaps.
It is difficult to know what you don't know, so going into that discussion with a firm idea of what you need to know is going to be much more productive.
I feel like this is a better approach. Rather than trying to sit down with someone super busy, try to get more background from others and look to him to validate those things. It'll be a shorter and more focused discussion then
Basically, there's no way for me to know what already happened without him spending quality time with me OR a very detailed clear documentation from him ...
Have you tried addressing with the colleague and explaining what you need from them to be successful?
Yeah that’s a tough situation. I’d suggest first addressing it with the colleague directly. If you still aren’t seeing any engagement or support, escalate to their manager and explain the situation. Without knowing the entire situation, it would also be important to understand why they were pulled off the project and if they’re still on your team or they report up through another team. If they’re still on your team, you might be able to work through this. If they’ve already moved to another team, your probably out of luck and may want to consider reworking things.
Do whatever it takes to make sure your work is documented
