If you're using Becker, do a lot of simulation! They are really good and many of them were similar to what I had on the exam. Also, learn the basis rules (when to use fmv, nbv bla bla bla)
following! I’ve passed the other 3, so I’m feeling my approach works, but tax is a different animal🙃
Incredibly boring and not revolutionary by any means but here goes:
I usually repeat this process for each module, as in complete F1, Module 1 before moving to Module 2.
Step 1: Watch all the Becker lectures and pay attention. I do all of their annotations + my own notes in the book + various notes in a notebook (usually key info or stuff that I’m guessing I’ll have a hard time remembering, no more than a page per module but save room to go back and add more)
Step 2: Skills practice. I usually give the videos more or less than half attention depending on how I feel about the topic. But I do the problem 100%
Step 3: MCQ’s. Do all of them!! If you get it wrong, write down in your notebook the explanation as to why. If you’re still unsure, go look in the book and take notes to help you understand.
I think the Sims for each unit can be helpful but I wouldn’t worry too much about them. I did Personalized Review Sessions for FAR and I thought they were helpful but not game changing.
I have also done all 3 Mock Exams. I do the first ~2 weeks before the exam, second 6-9 days before, and the final one 3-4 days before. Make sure to spend time review what you missed and WHY.
I also think the final review book is super handy. You can totally run through that in 3-4 days. I like to just read it over and it kind of reminds me what topics need a little more drilling! I take tons of notes in that book. Also, fresh MCQ’s are nice!!
