Taking the first step into investing. I am creating a brokerage account with fidelity to be able to invest in S&P 500 but not sure if I should open a government money market (SPAXX) or treasury money market (FZFXX) ? What’s the difference between both? On googling it seems like the investing patterns are different for both. Which one is better?

Most of your money should go into your S&P index fund as shortly after depositing it into your account t as possible.

Depends on your brokerage and what you invest in. Most let you set recurring investments with mutual funds.

Hopefully your first step into investing is in the 401k and and IRA before a brokerage account. The money market account doesn’t really matter unless you plan to keep a lot in cash. If you plan to keep a lot in cash checks and see which has the higher sec yield

I don’t know what your plans are or when you need the money but you can also invest in the Sp 500 in the 401k. But getting back to the initial question, the money market fund doesn’t matter. You should only have anything in it for a short period between funding the brokerage account and investing in whichever SP 500 fund you plan to use

People here are like all into SP500 or nothing (apart from 401k and that). I think having a mix of funds is interesting as well, especially if you can diversify by acquiring some EU funds. Also, enter the market gradually, X each month, not all your money at once given the volatility

Need Advice*** I successfully completed my interviews and was told today their working on my offer of 90k+ BUT I got thrown for a loop with the last interviewer (head of HR). She mentioned A hybrid schedule of 3 days in office, but the executive I’d be supporting told me different. I’d only have to go into the office on occasions where she’s there or for important meetings (she lives in TX and office is in CA). How do I handle this conflicting information?

Last year I lost close to 50lbs and I’m now lower than I weighed pre-kids! I started weightlifting recently and the scale is creeping up again and freaking me out. Can someone reassure me that this is fine? Haven’t changed my eating at all.

Just realized I can’t contribute to a Roth since my income is too high (I think). TC ~190k and wife makes around 90k. I’ve only been contributing for a few months now at the advice from a CFP friend (he never asked me what I made). Should I go back to 401k contributions or is there a better option here? I expect my retirement income (via pension) to be higher than my HHI now.
