I don’t know my multiplication tables.
Hi folks, I resigned from my previous company and due to health reasons and other family emergencies I have 20 Loss Of Pay Days mentioned in the last month Payslip. My LWD was on 1st Nov. I am planning to join the next company by the end of Nov. Is the gap of close to 1 month or LOP days in the payslip going to create a problem. Please suggest.

What's an average acceptance rate for BCG 2nd round in the US? From what I've heard & seem, passing rate for 1st round (chatbot round) is not low, so wondering if second round acceptance rate will be extremely low? Does anyone have any ideas on the ballpark percentage for recent interviews? Boston Consulting Group would rly appreciate any insight on this!
Columbia
Your chances are as great here as they are at Wharton, and the $ goes a long way. If you want to go to Wharton and or live in Philadelphia, do that, but know that it won’t materially change your chances at MBB NYC. I was at Bain pre-MBA and was also involved in MBA recruiting
A sizable portion of students at both schools will be gunning for MBB jobs, so I’m not sure that the competition will be fiercer at one over the other - especially as the consulting clubs and career centers are preparing their students to be top notch. Student quality is comparable tbh, and both the Wharton and Columbia networks are strong at Bain (especially in NYC office but in others too). The people who actually get offers are top notch at both so your goal should be to be absolutely prepared regardless of whichever campus you go to
It depends on your goal. Making it to MBB is no guarantee from either school, even though one may have a slight edge over the other. When faced with similar decision, I chose and went with Wharton for other reasons than just money.
If you are admitted to both, congrats! Can’t go wrong either way
I chose Wharton because I felt connected to the people and I liked the curriculum, especially I really wanted to study under this one professor. In addition, the global network is huge so it gives me an option to go back to Asia if I ever want to (Immigrant here with citizenship).
For some unfortunate personal reason, I did not do internship therefore only recruited for FT, and number of roles was too limited for my year. Furthermore I had no prior consulting experience nor had any impressive undergrad degree and may have had bad days when interviewing for MBB. But that’s my point, there’s no guarantee for MBB because of huge competition and there’s always that “clicking” factor.
Those are both target schools for MBB so your chances aren’t materially different at either school. Also most consulting firms don’t pit you against other candidates but rather are looking for people that pass the bar. They won’t select the top X candidates in that year. Rather if more candidates meet their bar they’ll extend an offer to all provided it’s not 2x -3x the number they believe is justified by amount of business for that office
What C1 said above.
I’ll debunk the Wharton vs CBS focus while we’re on the topic, at least based on what I’ve seen at Bain. Also, FWIW, you can’t game the office thing - chances are generally the same everywhere (see other threads on this).
Coach
Would be curious to get a McK take here. I’m a BA, so not too involved in Asc recruiting especially not for NY. However, anecdotally, I have met and worked with soo many people who went to Wharton and can’t recall one who went to CBS.
I’m at Columbia currently and heading to McK after business school. Over 30 people from my class have signed with McK, not including sponsored students, and over 50% of those are in the NY office.
Also, OP, it might be a good idea to look at the employment reports for both CBS and Wharton as you make the decision. And you can ask the career offices about NYC placement (which isn’t perfect bc preferences change each year). It won’t necessarily help you compare any %s between schools, but could help give you a sense of # people who end up at MBB.
Ah gotcha. Sounds like you’re doing your research which is great ☺️
Yeah people on this forum knock CBS, but you really can’t get much better if you’re in the city or recruiting for NYC offices. CBS draws a pretty different pool of applicants relative to other business schools as well.
For consulting/MBB, you also don’t have that much of an advantage going to HSW over other schools for that goal alone (which is also true of most MBA opportunities - they are largely consistent across M7). It’s for the more niche industries where certain schools spike on certain things. But applicants tend to overindex on brand over everything else.
