Anyone recently received a tax manager offer from EY ? I’m going through final interviews and want to see what your experience was like (negotiation process, initial offer higher/lower than expected?, did you give them a salary expectation range? How long did it take from final interview to offer etc) TIA!PwC EY KPMG Deloitte

You should shoot for gs-13 min. Very mixed reviews of working for irs based on location. The management can make or break it. Hopefully you can change things for the better. Otherwise guaranteed 40 hrs. Good pay, pension, etc
I joined the IRS last year. There was a big pay cut even though they brought me in as a step 10, but I have zero regrets. I love the work life balance and have been stress free!
Steps are based on exp with the government. Generally a new hire with the government starts at step 1 no matter the GS level. GS level is a rank. The more education and exp. in your field you have the higher the GS level.
Take me with you!!

I’m hoping I get a GS13 position with the IRS as well.
My OTMP told me that Deloitte Tax can’t compete with a GS13 offer for a new manager at the moment. So for me, it would be a significant pay bump.
Did you apply to a local position? Do they have 100% remote?
Thinking about it myself. UHNW and LBNI teams ftw
Two groups with significant growth and pledged, dedicated resources.
I was offered a position about 3 months ago and I seriously considered it. However the biggest issue to me was the pay, the amount was simply too low for me to want to make the jump. The pay cut was approx 10% and when you factor in bonus and raises, over the years it would be too much. The division that offer though is also allowing for full work from home post pandemic, although there was like a two week training they send you somewhere for. I do think it’s a good gig if money isn’t your motivator.
TCA & D3 - thanks for the info! I would expect travel to taxpayers/“clients”, and I’m also aware that many federal government workers are able to participate in telework depending on the division and manager (just wasn’t sure how common that is allowed with the IRS). I could do the commute once per pay period but definitely not daily.
I’m considering IRS as well!
Idk we had someone join our team from IRS and they weren’t as experiences as expected. Don’t know what the levels entail but is it a forever home sort of deal?

Yes, you can have a side hustle at the IRS. It just can’t be income tax prep or anything that results in representing taxpayers before the IRS.
Do all groups within the IRS pay the same if ur on the same level. Interested in the tax exempt group. Also do you need to have been born in the US, be a citizen or just a green card to work there?
D2 - I can look into it a bit more, but there are subgroups within each group. For example, you can be in LB&I but focus purely on cross-border or on partnerships. I'm sure there are specialities that go as deep as you say, but I'm just a newbie so not fully sure :D
How’s the pay for IRS Criminal Investigation?
I believe they usually start at GS-9 which for the most part is fairly comparable, if not a bit below, a first year associate salary. Don't quote me on it but I believe there is promotion potential to 11 or 13.
Interested as well but am in the process of applying for citizenship so am not quite qualified at the moment :( Hope the job postings are still around next year.
Is there a wait period to become eligible for benefits or do all benefits start day 1?
