Tax Manger 3: really want to get the job done well but not motivated at all. Definitely not partner material so this is not my forever job but I’m comfortable with what I’m doing now. Should I leave or wait until I get fired?

Leave. Life’s too short.

Waiting to get fired is not the best strategy. Most of the partners I work with understand that this job isn’t long term for everyone and can be a great source for job opportunities with clients.

If you're not in it for partner then leave. Once you make SM the focus shifts towards business development, which is fine for someone who wants to make partner but not as practical for someone who plans to leave eventually. You can get the project/team management experience in industry (along with a pay increase most likely).

How long does the process really take for one to get a call for HR discussion. It's been almost 10 days now. Similar situation happened with Accenture recently, they put me on hold for long and suddenly turned down the offer after HR discussion for which I'm really concerned now.
