I’ve averaged 60 since the beginning of the year. 40 seems heavenly at this point in busy season

Why are you complaining?

Yeah, def been averaging 70 since 3/15

like

Not complaining, more like asking if it’s bad for CRTs. Sorry if it came out wrong

I’m sure if you ask for more work no one will say no.

I have a "wide range" from 45 to 60.

What level? You’re supposed to maintain 55 minimum chargeable in my office

I know some people at my company working 70 hours or so right now it seems. That's not normal is it in tax? I'm in a different department but it seems average is 50-60. And mind you we are at a mid tier so it seems it's even more than big 4?

Normal for big 4 tax ^

70 I mean

Are you the one picking up every meal?

I’m pretty sure colleagues at my firm are inflating their billable hours. Is this the norm? I suspect many of you will think this is obvious and/or that I’m naive but wtf? I find hitting 2200 is tough even with a good sized work load. Am I just expected to play the game? I don’t want to sound self-righteous but if most are lying just to make the requirement, then maybe the requirement should be lower.

Anyone have slow months where you burn through a lot of your allotted pro bono/professional development hours to keep hitting minimum daily hours? The past few weeks have been like this for me. Should I be concerned (I.e., will this reflect poorly on me, come review time? Will I have dug myself too much of a hole if I keep burning my non-billable hours?) I’ve been asking partners if I can assist in any projects so I can fill my plate, but I’ve only gotten small (4-6 hour) tasks handed my way.

I had crazy burnout inducing weeks and I am now on a slower pace finally for the second week this year (~20 billable hours wk). Not sure how well I performed in those weeks prior but deals closed and nothing went wrong at the end. Now I think about what’s lacking in my life (partner, joy, expertise in my field haha) and I just don’t want to work or care to work anymore. Anybody in a similar boat? How did you get out of this?

Ever been let go before your billable time entries were in? Was let go today and not all of my time made it in as it was due next week. I’m expecting a heavy payout but I’m wondering if they can withhold since my billables are not in? Seems like their loss at this point.

Let’s pretend we’re holding companies. I’ll start: No, we can’t hire an extra writer even though you’re clocking 70+ hours a week. BTW, our contract with your client caps billable hours per employee because they know we don’t pay overtime. Here’s a non-billable code you should start using for the rest of the year.
