Easy - if you have not learned to be an educator , you are so much easier to control and do what they tell you to . Since you don’t know what is age appropriate you will be the perfect teacher for those hell bend to control what we can and can not teach . It’s a sad day for education and I feel sorry for those students that want to learn .
We do not have a teacher shortage. We just don't have people with multiple degrees who want to make 35k, and be continuously undermined by their admin, community, and government.
Well said and 100%true
The Arizonan Legislator is not interested in quality Education , they are only interested in teaching their twisted views .
90% of teachers I have worked with have advanced degrees, certificate of awards, and hundreds of hours of professional development. Yet all of those 90% are terrible at their job. Teaching has become too paperwork based. Standardized tests, all the charts and graphs of learning styles and accomodations, etc. Bottom line is we need teachers who care about kids and we need to keep away all the darned expectations that come from colleges and standardized tests getting in the way. Bring teachers in who can teach, not ones who have a piece of paper that says they can teach from a college that teaches gender studies and critical race theory, and lets teach kids how to balance a family budget, how to do basic math, how to complete a full sentence, how to read a map that isnt connected to gps, how to do basic cooking, farming, home and auto maintenance, basic self defense, proper health and nutrition, PE/physical activity every day, how to perform at a job interview, how to perform in a job with coworkers and bosses, how to choose healthcare plans, retirement plans, how to socialize face to face in a digital world, etc. Real life people teaching real life skills. These are the skills we need to teach kids, not shakespeare or finding the value of X. Pass a background check for sure, but after that, get these real people who can teach inside the classroom and let these kids get an actual education. 👍🏻
@Florida HS 1, As I understand, prior to the industrial era (Agrarian Era), the masses of students required new knowledge to join the workforce. The knowledge-skills needs have now advanced beyond the industrial era, and in addition to Life Skill needs.
Sad but true. It's getting worse by the year.
I do think that you should have a minimum of a bachelors degree and unless you want to move up through the system then I do not thing a masters or doctorate is necessary. We will always be taking more classes to learn new things and developing our skill. I also do not think that teacher's colleges should exist anymore. They are not really making teachers. I am in a program to become a teacher by being a teacher and taking classes along the way. I am getting the best education and can try different things with my classes by learning on the job. Student teaching does not do this. The new teachers that come to us from teachers colleges do not have just basic classroom knowledge that I get from learning on the job and they have bad habits. A lot of those things taught at so called Teachers colleges do not even resinate in classrooms.
