Lol did anyone buy into all the “we are a family” crap?
and getting fired on the spot
From the outside looking in, the big tech (Google and Meta) severance packages are very generous relative to other industries. I do feel for those who were affected, especially those with H1B visas, but wait until we see what a "regular" severance package is from other industries. You'll see the level of care they offer for their employees - immediate termination with 2 weeks severance and COBRA option.
Big tech layoffs won't look so bad, relatively.
It’s bs - the novelty wears off really fast
That was always BS but keep the layoffs in perspective, in most cases these companies have been hiring like crazy and headcount is going back down to it was in the very recent past.
Yeah I saw a chart somewhere of all the major tech firms that had the amount hired in the last two years and overlayed decent layoffs, it was negligible in a lot of cases (still net gain of people by long shot)

Love your work but never love your company
“The purpose of a company is to increase value for its shareholders.” This is way too easily forgotten.
I don’t get it — what about their culture and family stuff is inconsistent with recent layoffs? I don’t recall any promises not to lay people off
The impersonal way in which they did the layoffs is of concern. Send an email and remove access!?
