Tell me what being an EC/VC attorney is like on a day-to-day basis and how that might differ from other practice areas. Are weekends more protected? Any thoughts appreciated!

The day to day is that you have a list of to-dos for your active financing deals, while you get random requests related to equity or employment matters and the related board/stockholder consents. Weekends are protected if you’re not behind on work (which lately has been very difficult to achieve).

The difference between other practices is direct client communication and doing more substantive work earlier on as a junior because we’re cheaper. Another difference is that most of the work takes an hour or less so it’s not atypical to bill to 10+ clients a day. The constant task switching and not billing 0.1 or 0.2 for requests like “can you send me our up to date cap table” eats up a bunch of time.

In my opinion, ECVC is much more rewarding compared to other practices but sometimes it feels like my head is spinning from all the different tasks/requests I get on a busy day.

Getting the hours in isn’t too tough if you have the ability to focus for longer periods of time. I just have a hard time working 8 hours straight with only short breaks so I’m trying to improve. I’m sure others are better at it than I am.

Are there any RN’s that left bedside for a remote position that can give advice on the work/life balance? What pros and cons do you encounter?

Should I utilize a recruiter to help me find something? Any recommendations?

So I keep applying for leadership roles (supervisor and manager level). Keep making it to final interviews and I am not chosen. The feedback I get is they were very impressed with my interviews and they forward my resume to there colleagues for another leadership opportunity and I end up with the same results. They do include that they went with someone that had mgmt experience. The emails aren’t generic I may add. However I am not sure what else I can do to land a spot? Thoughts please!

Hi all,

I need your advice and suggestions

I am looking to have my career into management consulting. I am a 2020 grad from VIT University and have around 2.5 years of job experience. Currently I'm working as a sector analyst and my job includes a lot of primary and secondary research and insight crunching. I am very sound in using all the ms applications along with a little knowledge of SQL.

Right now, I feel my job is kind of monotonous and I'm getting a feeling to move out...

When (if ever) would you say something to a rude partner? There’s on I actually like in personal settings and he was great at work at first, but he’s a complete prick now. He doesn’t yell, but everything he says is dripping with contempt lately. Others have the same experience. I haven’t made any major mistakes, but he acts like whatever I say is the dumbest thing he’s ever heard. I also can’t finish a thought since he’s constantly interrupting. I feel like asking if he needs a hug.
