Ask them. Relationship role is most likely a scale up.
Remove feelings and research the projections for each role…also, consider what you want to do with your career and which role/ path will get you there
Depends on if you have more responsibilities and money as a result of the move. If not then it is terrible and I would be actively looking while delaying the talks as best I can.
Any move from internal analyst to an external GTM customer-facing role is a promotion in my mind
The new role would likely be client facing. Not sure how much you interact with clients now, but that to me would be the largest difference. It should not be a lateral move and should include a raise in pay.
Does it feel like a demotion, or is it more a lateral move. Is there a business justification for the new role? I could be wrong, but it's possible that leadership is looking to "manage" you out.
Based on the description of your job, it sounds like they are trying to align your job title with your actual job function. From and industry standpoint, Sr. IT Business Analyst tend focus more on the business and a lot of project based work. They tend analyze and create workflows and work really close with project managers to help determine the right solutioon or need for any given department within the company. Business Product Manager seems more in line with how you described your current job duties.
