Coming from a town in the DFW metroplex, football is definitely taken as seriously (if not more so) as religion. Star athletes getting held back a grade for better chances at spotlight in high school is very common. Most people in town go to the games on Friday nights, don’t even get me started on playoffs. Football is still hyped as much as FNL
