Compliance doesn’t interest me like it used to and Partnership tax experience alone really limits exit opportunities.

Everything used to pay $350k on target earnings. Tech is booming but I am noticing pay has dropped substantially despite inflation. I am seeing $300k ote and most roles are set up to not hit plan. Does anyone have insight here? It sends a clear message. Just thinking experienced sellers are going to leave or pivot because they follow the money and they are going to get less experienced sellers.

Why do we spend so much time prepping to interview for a career ladder (management consulting) where most people seem to already think about exit strategies only one or a couple of years into it?

M.S. GPA - 4.0 (No GMAT/GRE) same school
Studied at a specialized school for Aviation. Non target for Consulting.
How do I get into a top 3 firm as a management consultant? Hopefully as an Associate at McKinsey

Sounds like first round is a behavioral and online case study- no live case. Confident in my behavioral ability, but want to make sure I am prepared for online case. Any recommendations are helpful.
