I just had a mental slip up and said some really concerning things to my team on a call. I’m feeling very anxious about it and I feel dumb - I wish I hadn’t said anything.

A close work friend who just left my firm a few weeks ago blocked my number without telling me why. Before that when they left they had said to text them regularly to catch up. So I had been texting them with updates. Nothing bad at all. I guess the friend just didn’t want to deal with my regular updates but wish they had just told me not to send them instead of blocking (after all, they had requested them). It hurts. Anyone go through this?

Hello so I recently had a situation. I worked at an office for 10 years. I asked the supervisor for help and she has a tantrum. Starts yelling, what do u want? Ripping up my schedules for the next day. After all the commotion I go to her office to talk to her and she starts throwing away her lunch, mind you it 4 pm and saying I guess I get no lunch today, what can I do for you? What would you have done?

I have an interview next week and want to vet the new law firm with questions to determine if there’s a good work-life balance, respect for how work is delegated (i.e., attorneys are not routinely asked to do obvious paralegal work), and what overall systems/structures are in place to make it a functional/successful environment. What sorts of questions do you think would get this info and also cut through the usual bs of “we’re a family here” when in reality no one talks to each other?

I had a divorce mediation last week. The client wasn’t thrilled with the results (is anyone after mediation?) but we left with the two things she wanted: the house and her pension. She thanked me. My office sent the bill a few days later, and client wrote my boss a very long, angry email claiming I gave her incompetent representation. My boss backed me 100%, but I haven’t been practicing very long, so it really stung. Anyone have advice on dealing with self doubt in these situations?

2 wks into a new job - boss is already inundating me with work, gives direction then questions me on why I followed it 🤯 looks visibility disgusted when plans don’t look like what they expected (but didn’t set any expectations) and then starts asking Qs about my exp which sends me into a panic. I’m anxious all day. They say all the right things on 1:1s and that they want my feedback so we can work well together but I don’t believe it. Can I come back from this? I love the company

The hostility on my team is rough. We have a yeller. I walked by her room the other day. She was screaming across the room at a student, "you have to be kind to get kindness." Seriously, those were her words in a loud, berating, angry tone. Our admin has asked that we not report these. We are to talk to the teacher. She has yelled at me and other adults. Admin has to know she treats the kids this way too. One teacher has to work with her door closed to not hear the yelling all day.

How do you deal with rude patrons at restaurants?
