Hey 🐟🐳 peeps! How do you go from working madly for a "go live" to full stop when the client cancels the project due to budget. Very surprised so hard to get my head around it.
Left home in a hurry this morning for a client meeting and ended up bringing my personal laptop instead of my work laptop. Thank goodness for cloud storage! (Is it Friday yet?)
Was having a chill day,
Client keeps urgent meeting on short notice
Gives too much work and wants it by 11pm IST
Cuts call by saying "have a great weekend"

Has anyone gone freelance to making your own agency? If so how did you do it? When did you know it was the right time and how do you keep steady project work flowing?
When introducing yourself on a kickoff call to the client how do you introduce yourself/your background without saying you have 0 YOE but also without lying? Always feels weird after my coworkers say they have 5-15 years experience when I’m less than 6 months in
Project doing well, have good friends around, everything seems to be just fine. But you know you are deep inside broken because amazing people that used to in your life are gone. How do you recover ?
If I’ve built a technology that solves a problem for almost every client in a specific industry, is it possible to sell that technology to my own company? It was all built in my free time. And then my proposal would be to consult clients on how to solve their very niche problem using the technology I built. Looking for some thoughts or advice!
For the life of me I cannot focus on my current engagement. Doesn't help that client is very slow to send data so I'm kind of searching for filler things to "analyze," but overall my level of productivity is just not where it needs to be and I'm at a loss for how to get my drive back.
MD wants me to transfer from a Tier 1 to Tier 2 city to be closer to my project. I wouldn’t mind moving to the Tier 2 city but I’m not sure it’s in my best interest. What are advantages/disadvantages?
I’m starting a new client and I have to carry 2 laptops everyday. Any suggestions on style and brand? Ideally want to be my only bad to carry wallet, and other items.
Past 1.5 years I've been staffed on projects that I wasn't an SME in. Just got on a project that I'm an SME in but the tech has changed so much I'm playing catchup. 😑
I am a 13 yrs experienced professional and currently in a project where I look after the data collection, quality validation and source the data to a cloud reporting engine. I have worked mostly on data bases as ETL developer, ETL Tester and Data modeling. Now, my profile has become a mix of all but none of them are mastered. I need to understand the further career progression as I am confused which way should I proceed? Project management OR Business Analyst OR upskill to data science?
So got client dilema:
Did business case last year. Erased data. Now clients wants to pursue. New business case I rebuilt doesnt match at all.
Current upside is 25% of prior year. I am pretty sure I made a mistake last year
Do I present the new case, do I play crazy? Do I quit the firm in shame and move to south america? What would you do?
How many others have a client who has RBF syndrome and you can't tell whether she's mad or just chillen... 🙄 ?
Anyone willing to refer someone who is an experienced and accomplished operations analyst and customer service professional with over 5 years of experience? Ideally looking to pivot out of the financial services industry into a position more project oriented (such as project management) and creative oriented. Also would love to network and chat with anyone who loves their job and company (looking for great company culture and an employer that cares about their employees).
TFW the client throws a fit and insists your team work during the firm shutdown and then you get an OOO from him through Jan. 9. 😒
Guys, calm down. They didn't put your names on it.

How do you cope with team members texting and calling you when they need something and you’re not online? I can’t stand this idea of virtually being available 24/7 to cope with “emergencies”
If I refinance as primary resident, how many years (after refinancing) should we live in house before renting. I’m looking for living and holding the house but my spouse could get an out of state job
I’m not saying that I’m any better, but watching this chat room and really our whole country, it’s become obvious how selfish and self oriented we have all become. When did this happen? Why did this happen? Or was it always this way?
No matter what, it’s sad.
