Hey folks! Hope everyone is safe and sound. Who is working on billable work and who is on the bench ?
When you resign and you happen to be on the bench at that time. After giving two week notice, so you start to tell colleagues that you are leaving and schedule time to catch up with them in groups/ 1:1 (since you have time); or just wait until your last to send out farewell email to inform all the people you’ve interacted with at work?
Anyone else on the bench atm iust chilling on Monday? I have none meeting for the rest of the day so just hitting the gym right now.
How should I go about switching my service line. I feel like the Oracle service line is getting to be unprofitable since a lot of companies are moving towards Cloud. I always find myself on the bench
What is a good title for a cold introduction email? On the bench, trying to network within my org.
How do you spend you bench time? Feel like I should take adventage of the downtime but worry that I might not seem proactive enough for optics.
I love when PwC throws me onto a busy season from October-January for a different market team so I can roll off in January and be on my busy season clients until April...second year in a row!!!
The BEACH or the BENCH? 🤔
That moment when you walk out of a second round at a job you want, are told you're moving onto the next round, and also receive an email that you're now staffed after weeks on the bench 🙄
When you're trying to roll off..
Just joined a new small firm about a month ago and I haven’t done anything in weeks after the first week of trainings and a weekly bench call. No one is reaching out to me. I think they’ve forgotten they hired me. What do I do?
2 weeks on the bench. You'll get bored, they said. You'll want to be on a project again, they said. No and no.
What do you do if you’re feeling burnt out? I’m not working that hard anymore on my current project, I just don’t find any satisfaction, interest, or challenge in the work. I’ve been staffed on the project for almost a year. Recently I’ve really struggled to find day to day motivation and I still have to hang on another month before roll off.
Anyone here have any ideas on how to handle sexism on the bench? I’m at my wits end in a case where my opposing counsel (white male and also a total jerk) is buddy-buddy with our presiding judge (also white male). In every single hearing, opposing counsel interrupts me every time I address the court, and the judge not only allows it, he never allows me to get back to my point. He also likes to hold all of these hearings as off record status conferences. Any strategies to fight this?
Is there any benefit for analysts/consultants who are on the bench to help with BD work? Does it make a difference in terms of networking/getting your name out - or is it really just doing
I work at Deloitte Federal. I love Deloitte just not serving federal clients. I’m on the bench with and I’m a recent campus hire with limited exp. What should I do?
I was laid off from a resource management role, working with employees approaching or on the bench, working with managers to staff projects, and support functions like report creation, scheduling, etc. Roles like this are few and many large consulting firms have frozen internal hiring. Do you think it would be beneficial to get a SHRM cert? Would that help get a "talent related" HR role? Worth the money? I have a background in recruitment as well.
Hey guys, how are y’all doing?! I’m new to the industry, I’ve started as an SD Consultant in march, and since then I did a SD Academy and recently got the S/4HANA Sales 2020 Upskilling certification. However, I can still get another certification, which one would you suggest me getting and why? Thank you in advance!
Help me pick. Corporate strategy at global FMCG, potential to exit into P&L ownership or equivalent role in 2-3 years. Equivalent to “head of”/director title. People are smart but no ego, and role would serve category/geo leaders as well as exco. 16% pay cut but a true 9-6 and industry-leading benefits. 75 min commute till Dec and then 30 min after new office. Head of strategy/innovation at midsize regional insurtech in “scaleup” mode. Potential to exit into major role in 2 years CONT
Applying to T15 in R2. Currently have a 700 GMAT (43Q, 41V) after taking once. Even if I raise my quant to 47, which would be impressive for me, I’ll still be at a 700 (possibly 710). 3.6 undergrad GPA. Worth retaking? Or just focus on the rest of my applications?
Currently on H1B visa, going through GC process. What are the repercussions of visiting/traveling to Iran from my future GC/US immigration perspective? I have a family member I want to visit but not sure if this will raise red flag for GC especially
Anyone done the technical whiteboarding interview for the Customer Success Engineer role at Databricks? Wanted to learn more about what it entails, TIA!

Is it common for insurance companies to disallow legal research or cap the hours you can spend doing legal research? Do you think that capping the hours for research can breed bad attorneys or even worse lead to malpractice claims? Wouldn’t the insurance company have some liability if that happened?
Tax savvy people, i have questions. my employer reduced everyones salary during the first 6 months of covid, but offered a “bonus” (aka back to normal rate) if you were required to travel during this time. How will the temporary salary cut + travel bonus affect my filing? Idk I’m feeling petty
Looking for recs for best bang for the Bonvoy points hotels outside the US? I found the Rayong Marriott for only 17,500 points (not sure if it’s nice in person) but that’s what prompted this curiosity
Laid off. Applying to jobs. Besides networking, what are the top job search platforms/websites? There’s LinkedIn, indeed, monster and Glassdoor. Anything else I’m missing or which is the “best”?

Seeking counsel from investing 🐠: what to do with 10k to invest? I was told using a fiduciary to set up index funds is a sound way to go but I am very new to this world. Data points in the comments.
Has anyone ever tried negotiating for more vacation rather than a higher salary? I'm applying and interviewing for jobs right now. Some firms have unlimited PTO while others only give a few weeks. Personally, I'm much more interested in getting an additional week of vacation and would rather negotiate for that but usually only hear of people negotiating for salary. Has anyone had experience with this?
Best books about product management for a good exit to industry? I already have an MBA and PMP but looking for a refreshed perspective since it’s been years since my formal education. Currently reading “Product Managements Sacred Seven” but it’s geared toward the startup world. I am in healthcare and not looking for a startup role. TIA!!!
Colleague got chosen for a project and I heard through the grapevine that he was the “only junior employee considered for it.” As another junior employee, how do I phrase my feedback question to essentially ask “why wasn’t I chosen?” I honestly care less about the project itself and more about why they didn’t think I would be able to do it
Expectations for a raise from Associate to Senior Associate at KPMG? I got around 14% my first year as an associate; 20% too high to assume?
