a clarification and some perspective. we benchmark regularly on total comp. that information is reviewed every year or so. in the past, the results have triggered adjustments. in the US, the latest installment due shortly. i don’t have visibility to timing in ROW. at least in the US, there isn’t much junior attrition to other consulting firms. yes, it happens but most of that head hunting activity is at the senior level. plus paying above market (at anything that is sustainable) hasn’t shown to be effective in recruiting. in the end, we all took the atk offer and are still here. if money is the sole determinant, there are better options to pursue. that said, expect an adjustment on a total comp basis if the benchmarking supports the case.
From a perspective outside of leadership it seems like the cost of making salaries competitive (10K-20K per junior consultant) are relatively low, while the benefits (ensuring that we have the best junior folks we possibly can, avoiding attrition and loss of top talent in the junior ranks) would have a lasting impact throughout the firm for years
