Had my 401k in all VINIX last year, and it served me well. I rebalanced to 20% large cap, 20% mid cap, 20% small cap, 20% Int’l, and 20% bonds. The Int’l diversification is pulling me down significantly. Would you shift that 20% back to large cap or just say it will payoff later to diversify? My IRA is pretty tech heavy, so trying to be mindful.

I’m wondering if it’s best to have both 401k and IRA? Do most people? Why / why not?

So let’s say after fees, we’re looking at 200k of cash flow to us. We buy another home for 500k, 20% down or so = 100k. I have enough for 20% down and I qualify for a traditional mortgage but my dad suggested he lend me the full cash to make the sale that way I have more negotiating room and can close faster. Then once I close I can refinance it and keep 20% in the house and pay my dad back for the 20%. Is there a downside to this? Will it get messy?

I am seeing similar plan home is being sold in same community who just bought year ago with same price as my new home final price. But that house has additional upgrades worth $30k more than i have.
