Any tips on being in control of your life? Right now work dictates my life. Can't even plan a vacation months out without knowing what project I'm on..
I want to take time off from my new born. But most companies offer a joke of a paternal leave. Is quitting a good idea?
Solidarity idea: I want to donate a PTO day to black coworkers so they can protest, grieve, or practice self-care.
Planning on taking PTO for 2 weeks over the December holidays. Any designation suggestions?
One of my favorite things to do on vacation is to check out local gyms and fitness spots. In Arizona and swam laps at the local rec center.
Just got a lateral offer, and know that conflicts/background check will take a little bit of time, and i’m hoping to take a week or two off in between jobs. My question is: would you take a vacation now or in the next few weeks before giving notice? Already losing motivation haha
Hello Deloitte H-1B fishes, Traveling abroad and don’t have a Deloitte phone. I was told I can access webmail and DTE on a personal device. Is there anything else to be concerned about? How would I access STAFFIT? Year-end impact statements? Any personal documents on ToD I should download? Already have pay stubs and employment verification letter for visa interview. I’m also in the middle of a PERM application so not sure if BAL would need other documents from Deloitte’s system while on PTO.
I quit my job and enjoying my first week of vacation between jobs. Today I measured my blood pressure, first time under 130/80 in years. LOL

Necessary to bring laptop while on vacation? It will be at a developing country and we'll be moving around cities a lot, so I'm not comfortable carrying it around. What do you guys usually do?
Need some advice! I'm a recent PhD grad (30 yo) in STEM, and just got some offers from different companies. Particularly, two of them are interesting to me. 1) from a Energy Market Company in Pennsylvania as an Operations Research Scientist, 95k + 15% bonus + very good benefits and generous PTO. It's a very chill job (9-5) with good people but limited opportunity to growth. 2) from a consulting company in NYC as a data science consultant, 130k + 10k signing bonus. Which one you choose? why?
Have a week of PTO to move cross country then start new engagement. New engagement manager hears this and says "Great, you'll have plenty of time to help next week when you're not packing." Continued
We offered our nanny the option to stay at home due to the cold weather. She decided to but we never clarified if we were paying her or using a PTO day. Normally we guarantee 40hr pay. Do we pay 4 day

The culture around PTO on my 6-7 person team is one where: 1) no one (besides me) takes more than 1-2 days off a year, 2) people frequently brag about how little time off they take…”I only took one day off for my child being born”, 3) people make comments that I’m “always on vacation” (in the last 2.5 years working at my company, I’ve taken cumulatively ~4 weeks off). Team workflow is deal-based so it’s difficult to plan in advance for taking time off as deals often come up unexpectedly. Cont…
Debating on Aruba vs. Turks and Caicos for an upcoming vacation. Most likely will stay at the Ritz either way. Thoughts?
Currently make 120k and have a decent chance of getting promoted in December and getting a new base of 145k. With some upcoming interviews, what salary range should I give recruiters? I was thinking of giving a broad range of 160-200k but didn’t know if that made sense.
I I’ve been working remote full-time since March 2020. I’ve hired people remotely. Ive sold shit to clients remotely. I’ve done good work that I’m really proud of remotely. I think I figured out the work from home/remote thing pretty well. I’m starting a new job on Monday that is also fully remote and I’m kind of terrified. Have no idea what it’s gonna be like to start a job this way. Any advice?

Would you switch if you were me? I am Currently at Accenture Strategy (L9), second year consultant. Just received an offer for senior consultant at Oliver wyman, but compensation is the same (no sign on bonus). Wondering if making the switch is worth it. Pros: I think would have the opportunity to work on more interesting projects, as well as get 100% of my MBA financed. Cons: I have a feeling I am being low balled and there is risk involved on making a switch
