I'm calling you soon, really cool DD just around the corner...
Honestly I think our biggest fringe benefit is that we don't get tracked on utilization
Agreed Mck2! I still try to find someone in knowledge to help out a bit 2-3 hours a day just in case PD asks what I'm doing
I always plan a week of PTO the week after a long project. 2 weeks off and only one week of vacation used 😎
Hahaha beach is the best... you always have to be "working" on 3 things as a preemptive strike against the annoying one offs. Great time to leave your mark on the Firm though, once relaxed use the time to do truly creative stuff for new ventures or whatever you're passionate about.
Lemme text your pd real quick!
Do any of you know if utilization isn't tracked either for McKinsey Digital folks as well?
I don't for sure, but I've never heard a single discussion of utilization rates for anyone at McKinsey
Partners get tracked for utilization - but everything below that, nope; no utilization tracking
Yep nothing. They rely on recruiting to allow in people who are self motivated... which in general works pretty well I'd say.
Agree, it works well, but if I work my ass off for a hostile client until 2 AM every single day for 2 months, I do not feel guilty at all just stay at home for 1-2 days after the project.
Dang, what are your guys' hours on average? I know it depends on the type of project, but is it typically 50-60?
Typical is so hard to say. It's a light day if you're leaving the client site before 6:30/7 without work to do at night
