The "always on" culture in PE is real. It's hard to escape the feeling that you should be responding to emails at 2 AM or checking your phone during family dinner. But how do you actually disconnect when your work phone feels like an extension of your arm?

I've tried setting strict boundaries (no work emails after 8 PM, no phone during meals), but it's easier said than done. Anyone found any effective strategies for unplugging and recharging?

Are there any apps or tools that can help? Do you have any rituals or routines that signal to your brain that it's time to switch off?

Curious about this too

Use the “Focus” setting on the iPhone

I make it a point to not respond to emails, pings, etc. from 6-8 so I can spend time with the family. Everyone I work with knows that if it’s urgent they just need to call my cell. I also don’t respond after midnight ever unless it’s urgent and/or we are all online actively working…

Any advice on how to approach your Google manager about turning your role into 60% part-time (3 days/week)? I know there is business need for role, so would be hit to the team, but I’m feeling burn out hard and don’t see how I can last much longer. Figure it would be better to go part time than leave altogether, but can’t really say that to my manager. Any way to explore this without blowing everything up?

The reason to choose ZS was because of not having a lot of relevant work experience to land any data engineering/ analytics related job in Big Tech firms. Given that the technology is changing very drastically, and from work life balance perspective in the future, would it be wise to shift into tech companies asap before it's too late?

Hello Everyone! Had a discussion yesterday regarding “claw backs” being included in a policy for sponsorship if the new employee leaves before 3 years. I get wanting to save costs but at the same time doesn’t feel inclusive or welcoming. Thoughts? Have you done this or seen it work? Thanks!

Highest earners at the firm make around $700k -$1 million and are around 50 or older. Is it worth trying to make a way in PE now(I'm 25 just recently graduated) Don't know what I should do...
