Eat local without using Uber Eats. Problem solved!
Agreed - I’m just saying Uber eats should shut up about it
To Uber Eats credit, they’ve created a smooth and seamless ordering experience. We are nearly a year into the pandemic and some restaurants have still not implemented a online order-friendly POS system. That’s on them.
Support local my ass with all the insane fees they charge restaurants
Literally

My friend has a restaurant and he says Uber eats kills them. They have to discount their prices so that Uber gets the “discount” amount. Margins for mom and pop restaurants are already thin, unless that are moving high volume it just hurts them. So they stopped doing UberEats altogether
Yes it's terrible, my 32$ order came to 50$ with tax, services and tips. I cancelled and did a take out at a nearby restaurant
Yes, I was on with those, which I still did on my take out
Amen they are a loot
That Ad was a little too on the nose. If in their marketing department, I say skip the commercial and direct that funding to support commission free orders all super bowl Sunday for local restaurants
If the restaurants don’t agree to the terms, then they shouldn’t sign up to Uber eats. Saying pooor local restaurants is like saying don’t buy from Whole Foods, Kroger, etc because they eat away (no pun intended) the margin.
If you want to support local and not thru Uber get off your ass and drive/walk/bike to pick up your own food (if you are able).
Also the argument that many of us are making is that Uber is falsely advertising. Many of us here no the backend of how UberEats works, but that ad makes it seem like Uber eats is beneficial to local businesses. Which you can argue it's not. So someone who wants to support local may think that they are helping when they aren't
Please consider Chow Now, restaurants pay just a flat rate a month to be on the system.

Honestly, eating out or delivering is so costly these days that all I do is pickup. When you go eat at a restaurant, they stack up so many charges that you don’t know where to begin. And same when you do delivery. That’s why I get my steps in and do takeout.
Pro
Dude who’s paying $15 for a burrito to start with
No they give enough calories in the regular burrito thank you

A lot of legacy software companies tried to package software that should have been free but then were forced to innovate when open source movement gained strength. Platforms like Uber were first to the game but they won’t be the last - the democratization of network based logistics (P2P) platforms will happen soon and completely ruin their current model. Uber will likely remain but will have to change the way they make their money (like Microsoft).
My local places tell flat out please don't order on Ubereats. Hurts us and them.
It's a customer acquisition play I think. Get people to try the food and hope they get people to come in for the normal price better margin food.

Uber is also making a $20 million commitment, including $4.5 million in direct grants, to struggling local restaurants.

Not when it’s the fees UE put in place to begin with

Y’all have to remember, there are a lot of people that aren’t comfortable leaving their house to even pickup take out, and Uber Eats open doors to that entire market that will ONLY do contactless delivery

Uber just bought Drizly so expect the same for alcohol delivery.
I don't quite get it, Eat Local as opposed to what? I never drive more than 20 min for 99% of the time I eat/pick up outside food.... with or without Uber Eats.
