Hi is it good to say that I already have an offer letter of one company(X) to another company(Y) to get better offer, I just got scolded by HR for this. also I lost the opportunity in Y.

HR scolded me regarding trust issues, time taken to interview a candidate, you will go and come back again to negotiate and what not, all I wanted to was just to improve my current offer.

Is it ethically wrong, or we should never share what offer we have to anyone.

I’m torn. I just got a nice offer at MSFT. A good 30% bump and much better WLB. I’m married with toddler. Current firm I’m a rising star. Likely to get promoted /w same TC. Huge executive presence. Helped firm to win partner tech awards. I was recognized individually as well. What prompted to look was I’m sick of client delivery. It would be nice to be on the other side and coast but I’m scared I’m leaving too much on the table at current firm. Current pace I’m mentally exhausted and not happy.
