The client responds to my male staffs’ emails quicker than mine. 🤦🏻‍♀️ I don’t think he realizes that I’m the senior one.

I'm a black woman. I often felt invisible to the client when I was with men on audits. When I was an senior auditor, the client would always address my white female intern. They just assumed she's in charge.

Wow an intern? So insulting! I can only imagine how much worse it is for non-white women.

I have a client who literally ignores all my emails no matter if I follow up or not. He’ll respond to my male staff though, or my manager will forward my email to follow up and get an immediate response. 🙄

like

^this literally just happened to me. My male manager followed up on an email I sent and got an immediate response, for a different client contact. Exhausting.

Ugh I get this too. Or on calls “hi (male 1) and (male 2), in response to your email I’ll get it to you tomorrow”. I sent the email and was on the call... they weren’t involved in it...

like

Yikes

Yep. One of my clients used to come in to talk, I’d get up for the conversation to help lead as the female poc manager, and they’d still turn to the white male first year (who isn’t even paying attention). Sigh.

The long and the short of it. I was laid off a couple of months ago, the clients on the account I ran loved me. Can I hit the client up about freelance? The non-solicitation part in my severance package mentions something about a year (which hasn’t passed yet), but still I’m no lawyer and it’s mostly mumbo jumbo to me.

I’m 30 years old and have been running my own (small) agency over the past two years, working with local businesses. I’ve got a solid book of client and spec work, with creative ad copy. I’ve also written for Sports Illustrated, so I can write anything from articles to ad copy. Before that, I worked in communications at a few law firms. Now I’m looking to work at an ad agency as a copywriter. Honest question: is it a reach to pursue that? And, if it isn’t a reach, do I apply for entry-level?

Back to back calls every day, unrelenting context switching at 30 minute intervals. At any given moment my only goal is to just make it through my next meeting / client call / orals. That's it. Hi fishes! To any fellow FP&A ladies in the room: Just joined an FP&A team with no prior FP&A experience... What makes a strong, high performing FP&A analyst? I have two contract offers: One is about Data Management/Quality project for 6 months, the pay is 5000£ per month, the other is product data scientist for an early stage startup based in San Francisco for 4 months, the pay is a lot lot less (less than 1000£ per month). Tbh, I am not a big fan of data management, and I totally see myself doing product analytics which is becoming a hot skill in DS field. Is it stupid to turn down the first offer and accept the second one? I would love some advice

New to freelance: 40 hours/week in contract but put on a high profile project that requires weekend work or overtime. Bill? If so, how would you go about it since the contract is 40 hours/week? Should I just include it in the invoice/timesheet or should I also plan to have a conversation with my supervisor or HR or Accounts Payable beforehand? Also keeping in mind that I hope to get contract extended, which is in my contract [tentative].

Trouble networking virtually; I started recently, 3 months ago. I am not sure how projects/internal moves work but I was wondering if anyone has advice on networking virtually? I am finding it tricky because I don't know anyone apart from my team & I can't view Talent Marketplace because I am on a billable project, not sure how long it will go. I enjoy my work and not looking to move just yet, I wanted to see what else is out there and looking for opportunities to network with more people.

If all the top consulting firms made anonymous decks or gave anonymous pitches to a client, eg no branding and the client did not know which firm made which deck, do you actually think that the client would prefer MBB? Is MBB actually coming up with better/more innovative solutions? I feel like I see many repeat or slightly altered solutions on almost all of my cases, are these really things that people at Deloitte/Accenture etc aren’t coming up with?

Hey Guys, I have 13 years of experience. even after my package is near about 10. I recently make move into IT/ Microsoft projects as a project manager but I am highly underpaid. Help. My supervisor and I work closely together on our project. Partner and SM have told us directly they want me more visible, to build a brand with client, etc. But when I raise my hand to take things on (drive meetings, sub initiatives etc), manager refuses to give up any of the “higher visibility” work so that, in his words, he does not risk himself falling out of the spotlight, he wants to be the “go to”. It’s not that I am not capable (lots of great feedback from him and Partner/SM) -

How does EYs senior manager translate into a MBB model? Working alongside an EY SM who thinks they’re a junior/associate partner but whose responsibilities seem to match an EM. Also is it normal for Big 4s to ignore juniors? This SM refuses to listen to anything I say and gets annoyed anytime I speak in a meeting or when I said I was talking to the partner directly - whereas my McK team proactively encourages me too.
