The company I work for in finding out more and more that is very much a ‘boys club’. There are no women managers and recently I found out that a guy that has worked there less time than I have, has less a lesser degree than I have and is in a lower position than I am is making more money than I am and is being considered for a lead over me Also, according to google, l’m very under paid. (If that is a reliable source for pay.) As you’re typically not supposed to discuss pay at work, what do I do?

Honestly, what's keeping you there? It sounds to me like you've got multiple legitimate reasons to find another (better) place to work. And with the market still hot, now's the time to make the leap.

I would definitely discuss my salary with supervisor, if I felt unhappy with my pay rate. Please advocate for yourself, you deserve to be paid for your worth.

The disparity is real when it comes to pay for women. I sympathize with you on this. I hate that the system is rigged, but I don't know how to deal with a situation such as this without them retaliating. But if they do, you can sue them for discrimination

I joined Accenture last year in May at level 8 and received 3 lacs as joining bonus.

However, I've received a very good offer recently and will be putting down my papers tomorrow.

Now as per Accenture's offer letter, the joining bonus needs to be returned if I leave within an year of joining.

I was recently promoted, which I am really excited about. But not so exciting is that my bump in salary is really small. Much smaller than expected and I believe smaller than industry benchmark. Is there a way to politely broach the subject with my boss and ask for a larger bump? Or no? I don’t want to seem ungrateful because I love my boss and she really championed the promotion. I also don’t want to burn a bridge. But I also feel let down by the tiny pay bump. Any advice?

Do you have any rules of thumb for what to do with bonuses? After taxes & 401k contributions, I’m trying to decide what to do- looking at balancing: 1)immediate gratification 2)long term wealth creation & 3)mid term savings such as expensive home projects and/or future down payments on next home. Would you feel comfortable telling HR that your service line’s culture sucks and name the individuals who cause it?
