The company I work for is going through being acquired by a mid size company. They would like to change our pay structure. Currently on a $40k draw before collecting any commissions with no cap. They are looking to move us to a salary and bonus structure. We handle leasing for commercial real estate, specifically retail. How should I calculate what salary and full comp number I should be making? We’re based outside of Washington DC. What are typical retail leasing agents making on a salary?

You’d want to start with first averaging how much you’re making in the typical year as of now with your current pay structure.

Most account executive position have a roughly 50/50 split between salary and commission/bonus so that would likely give you a good idea of what numbers to shoot for.

As for the last few questions, Glassdoor, etc will be your best option to get additional insight into expected salary.

Do creative directors have to manage people?
I don’t like managing people, especially juniors who are still figuring out their career paths. But at my company, in order to be considered a leader, you have to manage people. I see myself as a leader, contributing ideas and strategy… I just don’t want to deal with developing performance goals and compensation. Is this the case everywhere? Can I be a creative leader without managing?

I cleared 2 rounds of interviews with CGI. The very next day someone from the management team called me up and very readily agreed with me for my expected salary. He said he shall quickly ask the HR team to process my offer letter.

And it's been a week since I haven't heard from anyone. Neither CGI asked me docs nor any HR called me.

What shall I do now? I am currently under the Notice Period.

Ladies in their 30s (or anyone) help me out. When on a great first date with a guy in his late 30s, we totally clicked. Everything seemed fine but this morning he texts me "I'm sorry it just seems like we aren't looking for the same things." What did I do wrong here? Should I have let him come inside?

So I have this really strange satiation. I was asked to review a service agreement, and some attachments, governing website design and hosting client is buying. Literally 25 pages of the most ambiguous, inconsistent, supplier friendly thing I have ever read. Supplier insists using its documents (starting from scratch would have been Faster). The total deal is only $5,000 (which is an insanely good deal) but the time to fix these documents is going to exceed that. How would you deal with this?

Could really use some kind words today. We had to say goodbye to our sweet girl on Saturday. She had severe pancreatitis and just couldn't bounce back. She was so sweet and affectionate, never met a person whose lap she didn't want to sit on. Feeling a lot of guilt that we should have tried harder before making the decision to put her to sleep. Maybe she could have bounced back if we had just waited. We miss her terribly. She loved us so much and I'm just really struggling today.
