So what do we call the generation born in the next 8-18 months? Gen C(covid)? Gen Q(uarantine)?
I’m realizing that it’s nearly impossible to get fired at the firm and since comp doesn’t seem to be directly tied to performance, what’s the point? Why wouldn’t you just skate by?
Hello everyone, I was laid off a few months ago working as a Business Analyst for a well known EHR company. I have been having a pretty rough time getting interviews. For those who wouldn’t mind, may I get some feedback on my resume?
I’ve been working at a toxic agency and I just got laid-off. What I Say: “I’m so sad this happened.” How I Feel:
Recently ended a 3+ yr relationship (were both mid 20s and living together for just under 2 years) bc of him buying an engagement ring yet not proposing and waffling about our future. After 2 weeks I brought up that there’s a lot of good in us that maybe worth trying to work on (counseling etc). He wants space first and asked me to not wait for him as he sorts out his emotions and “tries to be happy again” (COVID depression and 100hr work weeks). Then he’ll decide if he wants to try again
I graduated residency 4 years ago, but my becoming a doctor wasn't complete until today- I decided I'm joining a golf club (post-COVID lol)
To all my fellow Consultants who have been laid off: wishing you all good luck 🍀 and good fortune... keep your head up, good things lie ahead. I hope you all find something soon!
After the layoffs we had, most people were offered a 90 day notice period, during which they have to be on-call, but there are those that get put on multiple accounts (continued)
Why did you leave your last job? Did you follow your passion, hated the work, got fired, wanted more money, etc?
Are there any agencies that have not gone through any layoffs, furloughs or pay cuts, hiring freezes etc? Shops that are, so far still financially functioning as normal? I know squarespace is one.
If you were laid off or fired would you apply for your current job? I was laid off from Big 4 audit in 2016 after working there for 2 years and it was one of the best things to happen to me. 1. It allowed me to reflect and decide what was important in my next career. 2. Losing a job isn’t as frightening as it seems. 3. Accountants have major job security as I got a job offer within 2 weeks. When you’re miserable at work ask yourself would you apply for your current job?
I am 30 and just got promoted to Senior manager. I think I am doing well but I feel I am driven more by pessimism, imposter syndrome, and fear of getting fired as opposed to a positive mindset and the desire to thrive in my career. I feel like I am suffering from some sort of a mental issue but wanted to throw it out here and get some advice to deal with this from the fishbowl fam as opposed to going to therapy. Thanks in advance for your responses!
Anyone know when holiday layoffs are being scheduled for this year? First week of December or end of January?
Just want to say how proud I am of CK for making sure there are multiple places to access hand sanitizer/Clorox wipes and updating us at least once to twice a day about current COVID19 news. 💚

At a new firm and right away I knew I wasn’t going to get along with one partner. Had a conflict with one of his associates early on. Everyone else is cool. Got into it with the partner and he told me he didn’t need my help on his matters anymore. The cool associates are still asking if I can pitch in cause they’re swamped. I’m a nice guy (despite what the partner and uncool associate may say), so I’m helping out. I’m the guy that gets fired and shows up the next day. Results TBD.
Anyone in Salt Lake City? What's a typical new tax senior associate salary for that market?

Should I still try to negotiate salary after accepting a offer? It is from Accenture for a security analyst position. Since I’m basically a new grad I assumed negotiating salary wouldn’t be worth it. Until I talked to someone on the security team there and he told me I should at least be a senior analyst since I am coming in with a Masters. Should I try to negotiate to a senior role and the salary or leave it? It’s my only cybersecurity offer. Also looking for FAANG,big4or MBB referrals :)
If i don't plan on staying in the US long term (maybe ~3 years), should I bother with a 401k contribution? Granted the matches are nice to have, but what about early withdrawal fee's / vesting time?
