The discrepancy between the time I spend making PPT presentations and the client spends reviewing them is horrifically absurd

What is the best attitude to take towards business development efforts? I’m relatively junior at my firm but am getting pulled into more BD work. They’ve asked me to help bring in money/new work. This is my least favorite type of work because there is so little control over it. With being staffed on an engagement I have control over how things go and to some extent over client satisfaction. With bringing in new engagements, it feels so uncertain and I dislike the prospect of revenue targets.
