Vanguard mutual funds You can only buy growth packages, not stocks directly

like

They get invested in mutual funds, which are a collection of stocks and bonds. Different funds have different investment strategies and therefore hold different allocations of stocks and bonds. So really you’re just investing a a broader group of companies then if you bought stock from a single company. Which is good for diversification

I wanted to hold VOO but they recommended VIIIX as the mutual fund which tracks the s&p

Thanks guys. Do these mutual funds outperform the SPY/QQQ?

Nothing can consistently beat the market, some will do better and some will do worse in years due to the different approaches each use. The easiest is just to get ones the track the overall market closely and just leave and forget

It’ll probably be invested in Target Date 2055 retirement fund (or something similar). Since its a target date fund, it’s adjusted to be more aggressive while you’re young, and more conservative as your near 60+.

Ours is in different funds but you can choose the mix of funds.

Joined PwC AC: Bangalore back in November. Decided that this company is not for me and looking out again. Only curious about the mobile phone reimbursement. I haven't recieved it yet and will probably get in January salary credit. If I resign before the salary credit would I still get the reimbursement ? And even if I get the reimbursement would I need to pay it back since I would be on probation at the time of resignation.

My firm pays contract partners using a K-1. Is that normal? The taxes are crazy - we have offices in so many states and with the cap on the SALT deduction it is awful. Also do firms provide matching 401k for contract partners? I am at an Amlaw 200 firm (not Biglaw) for comparison purposes. I’m not trying to compare to the really high end firms. Just trying to figure out if I’m getting as raw a deal as it seems.

Anyone come back from maternity leave during busy season? I come back early February and worried about getting no sleep between working and baby. My baby currently doesn’t go to sleep without a lot of rocking/nursing, etc and this is usually around 10PM. My 2yo is asleep by 8PM, so I used to just start working at that point.

KPMG ups 401(k) match to 8%, from 6%, the WSJ reports. (This news is a few months old.) Article also slips in this…that the bump occurred beginning Jan. 1, “after the firm froze its pension plan on Dec 31”. Was that an employee pension freeze, or a partner pension freeze, or both?

Family law associate. I run a docket of about 40-50 cases and work about 50 hours a week. I currently make about 125K (self-employed, no benefits). Between jury trials for CPS termination cases and the highly adversarial nature of family law, I find this job to be incredibly draining, as I have horrid work/life balance and struggle with constant anxiety. I recently got an offer with a personal injury firm. 110K, full benefits, for a non-litigation/docket manager role. Thoughts?
