Myra runs one of their biggest accounts in Chicago. Mel ran another huge one. Wendy is the CEO. Di Jackson is Chief Production Officer. Lisa is CCO of NY. Along with many more at CD and above. Not to mention huge numbers of women in account and strategy and HR and on and on. But okay. Women are oppressed at DDB.
Hindsight is great, but I think we over indexed on under-experienced females in creative to hit holding company kpis, hence the loss of State Farm for example.
I'm not sure about the NY CSO, but from my understanding, most of this was about finance cuts. We lost the Chicago CCO and CSO because they wanted to save money, and realized that the North American COO and CSO were having more of an impact on the work than the local level people. That being said, DDB is pretty sexist nonetheless.

This is a problem because there have been incompetent men running the strategy department at ddb
for years when the economy was worse and they were tolerated. But the woman was set up to fail and judged with higher standards. Also, show me one POC leading the ranks at ddb. All the names you mentioned are white. Jump around the nuances as much as you want but it is oppression.
This is thread is the reason why we need more women leaders. This reeks of gaslighting, mansplaining and white privilege. Measure everyone with the same yardstick.

If a client doesn’t like your work and ask you off the business, that’s not sexist, that’s advertising.

This isn’t about oppression. This is an observation that shouldn’t be ignored.
Two people left in a year. Both female. Who make up more than 50% of the human population.
That fact alone is thin evidence of a conspiracy against women. And it’s the only fact stated here. A fact about an agency that’s lost about half its NA revenue this year, in an industry with high turnover already, and in a company with all those other facts I stated earlier.
But we should pause and honor this post as something important about needing to recognize how DDB doesn’t let women win. No. Sorry. I will not. Take it somewhere else.
If you’re not doing your job well, you lose it. Should women executives have special protection from this? she was way under qualified when she started during the panic of hiring as many female leaders as possible. Should this mean she has a job for life?
My point is very clear: it should, but it hasn’t and doesn’t.

You can have a POV, a civil discussion, hear the counterpoints and decide if your POV stands or you’ve evolved on your stance or if you understand others’ POVs while still standing by yours.

Well since we've been bleeding business we haven't made a lot of new hires, so I can't say it's really any more inclusive yet. Remains to be seen.
