The hustle culture is killing me. Working until midnight everyday with no salary raise this year. Is it time to move? Just heard Deloitte people are getting raise this year.

D is giving small raises and bonuses in Advisory and I think Consulting, but last I heard audit and tax were no raise unless promoted (they might be getting bonuses though). But I agree, I killed it this year on performance and it’s discouraging to not have a lot to show for it.

like

It depends on what your performance was (meets, exceeds in multiple areas, etc) but Advisory call said to expect about half of last year. Less for some folks, since I think performance standards were a little higher this year. Also depends on your market. GPS did great this year, commercial not so much.

Yes. This is why i left the firm recently.

D is getting raise? Are you sure

What % for promo raise?

LOL

I don’t miss that at all. If you just started, you might want to grind it out the first couple years at least. Also make sure you know what you want when you jump ship.

I love my team at PwC, but my hours suck. I work for a specialty group and work really long hours year round. Working late at night is mandatory for my practice and it is even written on the job qualification (for all big4). I often answer client's call or email at 2am since it is forced by management. I will probably write my "No" list and will ask those questions during the interview as you suggested.

Small bonuses to a few, raises if you’re promoted

To clarify, the only raises D is giving out in advisory is for promotions or where discrepancies are noticed (e.g., someone is grossly underpaid compared to peers)

How soon is too soon to be preparing for a lateral move? I did my 1L summer internship in a niche area of securities law, loved it, took courses on it. I decided I wanted to explore securities law a little more broadly and not to pigeonhole myself. The firm I’m at is great—doing sec lit—but has zero work in that niche area that I liked.
