I love the "I have to pray on this." Some Christians use that phrase as a defense mechanism. I often wonder what it is exactly that they are going to be praying for.
It seems you failed to educate the client on sustainable withdrawal rates along with the inevitability of market volatility. Bring them in and spend time going over their projections and discuss how these are their choices then show them how to improve.
Capital One, not that big of a loss if the client is taking over 6% annually through monthly withdrawals.
I was assuming the client was talking about losses as in his account was down. Btw I do know the difference between withdrawals and losses
OP, I wonder if they think they won't pay the surgeon if the patient dies? Or even the painter if after the color is on the wall, they decide they don't like it.
Sounds like perhaps the clients portfolio is not in line with their risk expectations. A 35k lose on a 450k account is pretty significant. When was the last time you reviewed their risk tolerance and compared it to your allocation.
Principal, withdrawals and losses as two different things. And the original post stated a 35k loss.
